England Rugby 2015
Travel for Media supported the Rugby World Cup's Travel Demand Management team during the tournament in Autumn 2015. The event organisers went to great lengths to advise spectators about travelling to and from stadia for matches, both in the run up to, and on Game days.
Travel for Media provided experts in traffic information who were based within the Tournament's control rooms at both Twickenham and Cardiff. The Travel for Media (TfM) staff used their skill and expertise to monitor road and public transport conditions in order to alert colleagues to problems which could potentially impact spectators travelling to and from the venues. The TfM team also gave advice on alternative routes or modes when available. This allowed the Travel Demand Management team to keep spectators fully informed and advised.
TfM also used it's media knowledge to liaise with radio and TV stations as well as local and national newspapers, ensuring these media outlets were fully aware of the travel advice and any short notice changes. This contributed to a Tournament where spectators were informed about their travel choices and latest conditions as the Travel Demand Management team helped tournament guest organisers to ensure all Games kicked off on time with full stadia.
